Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. The family relied sometimes on free delivery of food from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as one who occasionally consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year of high school.
