Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was an American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Harris is the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator she advocated healthcare reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile due to her sharp examination of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of assault on a woman.
